Meet Emma

Emma May is an experienced physiotherapist with a special interest in pelvic health, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and Pilates-based movement.

Originally trained in the United Kingdom, Emma has been practising physiotherapy since 2007 and has called Nova Scotia home since 2016. She brings extensive clinical experience, specialized training, and a compassionate, approachable manner to her work.

Emma is particularly passionate about pelvic health physiotherapy and helping individuals feel more comfortable, confident, and informed about their bodies. She understands that pelvic health concerns can be difficult to discuss and is committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where clients feel heard and respected.

Her practice supports women, men, and children experiencing a variety of pelvic health and musculoskeletal concerns, including:

  • Bladder and bowel incontinence

  • Urinary urgency and frequency

  • Bladder pain syndromes

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Pelvic pain and discomfort during intercourse

  • Pregnancy-related pelvic and lower back pain

  • Joint pain and other musculoskeletal conditions

  • Paediatric bladder and bowel dysfunction

Emma believes that no one should feel they simply have to live with uncomfortable or disruptive symptoms. Through personalized assessment, education, and evidence-informed treatment, she helps clients better understand their conditions and explore ways to improve their comfort, function, and quality of life.

Pilates & Movement

Alongside her physiotherapy practice, Emma is a trained Pilates instructor and offers classes in Lunenburg.

Her approach emphasizes mindful movement, strength, flexibility, and body awareness, helping participants develop greater confidence in how they move and feel.

A Little More About Emma

Since moving to Canada in 2016, Emma has embraced life on Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore.

When she's not in the clinic, you'll often find her sailing out of Lunenburg Harbour and exploring the coastline. During the colder months, she's just as happy enjoying a good book and a warm coffee beside the woodstove.
